2003 IDAHO'S STRONGEST MAN Is Reggie Barton of Pocatello, Idaho. This was Reggie's second strongman contest and he did a great job winning 4 out of 5 events. 2nd place was Luke Patterson (who got 2nd in 3 events )and 3rd was Heath Otto (who won the Tire Flip event). 4th place was Shea Teel from Kuna, Id and Jesse Starkey got 5th place in his first strongman contest.
Overall, it was a great day at Boondocks. We did the first two events (axle c+p and axle deadlift) completed in about 13 minutes. After a short rest, the athletes did the conan's wheel (thanks to Matt Cook for letting us use it) then to the keg medley. The temperature was soaring in the high 90s at this point of the day so 2 or 3 guys barfed after dragging that sled. The tire flip was a little short of a distance (maybe 50'), but that was good enough as it was the last event and the rest time between events was minimal. We finished the competition in just under 2 hours and presented the prizes.
Reggie won an Ironmind Apollon's Axle but declined the 'paid entry' to nationals and is not going to nationals in Myrtle Beach.
Luke had already qualified for nationals earlier in the year, but he still won about $135 of EAS supplements!
Heath didn't qualify for nationals (since only the top 2 qualified) so he finished up with about $100 of EAS supplements.
